Gentleman And A Scholar?

Both Lachlan and myself are members of the Hobart branch of the Stoccata School of Defence which practices historical European swordsmanship and last Saturday (the 14th) along with Matthew Boyd from the Launceston branch we participated in a prize fight for our scholar's rank, using English Shortsword

A prize fight consists of six three minute rounds with other members of Stoccata who bout with us not to beat us to a pulp but so we have the opportunity to prove that we are safe, competent fencers. While waiting for my go I managed to video two of Lachlan's bouts and later when Lachlan was keeping the world safe from the scourge of milk bottles.

Time To Look To The Flanks

I've completed the centre, the fusiliers and now all I have to do paint the grenadier and voltigeur miniatures for the flank companies. Only eight to do and this part on the painting queue will be complete.

Soon I will have my cake and eat it.

Like the title says, a local second hand book shop 'Cracked and Spineless' found a journal from 1811 belonging to Royal Engineer.

You can read more about it HERE.

A Simpler Time ....

Once upon a time, before photoshop and graphic tablets all you needed was a a pad of hex/graph paper, a pencil and maybe a nikko pen and you could make whole worlds. I found this at the bottom of a draw, maybe I should do something with it?
